Pyramid Beanbags

We had a little visitor at the weekend so I made him these little beanbags inspired by these at The Artful Parent. Instructions here

They’re much easier to make than I’d assumed they would be. If I was inventing them I would have made a net of triangles when in fact they’re made with a rectangle of fabric.

They’re the perfect size and weight for little hands and, with a bucket, they make cute little game.

Make something from a book – details

Img_0974

Eli chose ‘Zoltan’ from Make a Monster by Fiona Goble. The book is full of bright pictures of fleecy monsters which definitely appealed to him.

The instructions were easy to follow and the whole thing took about 2 hours to make. It’s a great size for putting in a bag and taking out and about with us. I think the monsters would make a really cute alternative baby gift.

Easter Challenge – Make something from a book

I looked through one of my books with Eli and this is what he picked.

I’ll post the details tomorrow – right now Mr Purple (we really need to work on more imaginative names) is snuggled up in bed.

Easter Challenge – Make something for me

I made this shrug from an old tee-shirt using this tutorial  The tutorial’s really easy to follow and I love the shape it makes. I think with the right tee-shirt this would work really well over a dress for a wedding or special event.

Today I’m in the middle of making something for E that he picked out from one of my books – he’s at a lovely age were he genuinely seems to appreciate me making things for him, I wonder how long it’ll take until he’s embarrassed by me!

Sticky table – buttons

This is another one of those things that has been on my list of things to try for a while. We’re having a lazy day today so I thought I’d give it a go.

I taped some sticky-back plastic onto the table sticky side up and gave Eli a tray of buttons and pom-poms and let him get on with it.

It didn’t hold his attention for very long – about 10 minutes which isn’t bad for a 3 year old – but he was definitely interested so we’ll keep it around.

I think buttons are a good choice for this because you can take them off and rearrange them which would be good for a child who wants to make an actual picture.
