Hole art

I’ve been looking out for hole reinforcers since I saw this post on The Artful Parent (it’s a great blog if you haven’t seen it, lots of ideas for doing art rather than craft with kids)

I finally picked some up yesterday, Eli wasn’t majorly interested to be honest – perhaps he’s a bit young.

I’m going to keep the stickers around for a bit, I think it’ll grow on him.

More Quotes

After playing around with the children’s drawing app I thought it was time to have a go with a more grown up version. We decided on ArtRage (I think they had a sale on!) It has lots of different brushes and pens etc. Also you can create separate layers and manipulate them independently which makes it easier for correcting mistakes.

Yesterday I tried writing freehand and my ever loving but brutally honest husband said it looked like a 5 year old had done it – to be fair he was right; we dont have a pen for the iPad so I was writing with my finger and it wasn’t good.

Today I realised I could type out the text in word and then trace it and delete the typed layer which worked much better.

This is for Eli’s room it’s from Where the Wild Things Are which is one of our favourites

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this one yet, thanks for the quote Nell, I love it. I was inspired by this  illustration.

I love the fact that they look like I’ve painted them when in fact I’ve been sat on the sofa all evening!

Please don’t download the images for comercial use (i’m sure you can make your own!) Thanks

You are my happy

I am a total sucker for an inspirational quote. When I was at uni I used to write them onto post-its and stick them above my desk. I wish I’d kept them, I’d be interested to see what my 20 year old self thought was worth keeping. Of course these days I have a pinterest board

I made this simple print on the computer over the weekend. I made the background using the drawing carl app on the ipad it’s a free app that Ben downloaded for Eli but I love the different brushes and stamps.

I like using the computer for creating things because it’s much easier to keep playing around until you get it right. Maybe I’ll look into getting a more grown up painting programme – if anyone had any recommendations I’d be grateful.  I imported the image into word to add the text and simply printed it onto ordinary paper and put it in a frame we already had.

Out of the mouth of babes

Eli: Daddy’s at work

Me: What does Daddy do at work?

Eli: Eats bagels

Yup that’s pretty much what he does all day.
